Notice:
For Gibson City Residents: Please read the most recent statement posted regarding Gibson City’s Water System Improvements IEPA Loan, September 2025:
“Construction of Improvements to Gibson City’s Water System, which includes improvements to the City’s Water Treatment Plant and Well #7, was financed by the Public Water Supply Loan Program (PWSLP). The PWSLP program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The portion of the project at Well #7 includes constructing a new production well, new raw water main, and new well house. The portion of the project at the Water Treatment Plant involves replacing the existing filtration equipment including the filter media, valves, backwash equipment, and instrumentation and controls; general repairs to existing basins, piping and water treatment plant building. Once complete, this project will improve water quality for area residents and businesses in Gibson City by maintaining the City’s potable water infrastructure. PWSLP programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.”
