Announcement:
The City is sad to announce that our current Recycling Program is being put on hold indefinitely. Please read a statement from the Recycling Committee below:
“Andy Tull, from Ridgeview Recycling has decided he needs to hang up his recycling hat; he has been our faithful and reliable recycler for the past 20 years. It is with a great deal of remorse and sadness that he has decided he can’t do it anymore.
If you are a current recycling pass holder and would like a refund of the remaining time that Andy will not be able to fulfill, please email Karen Kummerow at kbk19019@gmail.com or call her at the number on the sheet attached to your recycling pass. Any money that is not refunded will be used to purchase a recycled plastic bench (or possibly two) to honor Andy’s commitment to recycling. The bench will be placed in the dog park or the fishing pond on the west side of Gibson City.
In the 20 years that Andy Tull has collected recyclables for the Gibson area, we went from saving 22 tons from the landfill to over 85 tons this past year. The program has been such a great success due to Andy’s reliable commitment and the commitment of all the volunteers over the years. Everyone, whether someone that has recycled or volunteered at the collections, should be proud of their part in keeping so much potential garbage out of the landfill. It takes us all working together!”
