On Monday, December 4th, 2017, the City of Gibson embraced the beginning of Illinois’ bicentennial year-long celebration. In honor of Illinois’ 200th birthday, the Illinois Bicentennial flag was raised at City Hall, after a proclamation was read by City Clerk Carla Moxley at 12:00pm. The Mayor, Chief of Police, Officers, and City Personnel were present to view the raising of the flag. Placed directly below the state flag, the bicentennial flag will remain flying for the year to celebrate the State’s 200th birthday.
May the bicentennial year showcase Illinois’ influence on American history and culture, achievement and invention, business and art. This bicentennial is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate all that has been great in our first 200 years, and lays the foundation for 200 more years of growth and prosperity.
